About 80 million years ago, there were large creatures that lived in the ocean called Mosasaurs. These "marine lizards" were powerful swimmers; air-breathing predators that once dominated the seas. Mosasaurs are considered one of the Great Marine Reptiles that ruled the oceans during the Cretaceous period. Luckily for us, all Great Marine Reptiles became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period 65 million years ago.
Mosasaurs had huge, double-hinged jaws that enabled them to swallow their prey almost whole, in a snake-life fashion. If you were to purchase a set of fossilized Mosasaur jaws, you would find them quite expensive, but we can offer you a great way to enjoy some Mosasaur fossils for a more reasonable price! Reconstructed Mosasaur jaws are available, with 100% authentic Mosasaur teeth. The jawbone has been sculpted using real fossilized Mosasaur bone fragments and a hardening agent, and then the Mosasaur teeth have been placed in their positions.
Most of these fossils come from a sandy bed in Morocco. Fossils extracted from this bed are fragile, and would never come in a hard matrix; they can crumble apart. The fossils are found together, but naturally the teeth and jaw sections come away when they are excavated. Most Mosasaur jaws simply break up, fall apart, and crumble. As part of the preparation and preservation process, sand is mixed with a hardening liquid and the jaws reassembled just as they would have been found naturally. Free Shipping in USA
