Cornett is an ecologist living in Palm Springs, California. He recently appeared on ABC's Good Morning America discussing the impact of climate change on Joshua trees. He is one of the West's most prolific writers with forty-five of his books published, as of 2022, and dozens of scientific papers. His research projects have made the front pages of the Los Angeles Times, Riverside Press-Enterprise, and the Desert Sun newspapers, among many others. Cornett enjoys sharing his love of natural history through writing, teaching, and lecturing. He is the first professional naturalist to have visited all nine of the world's great deserts and is currently writing a book on his travels and research in each.
